Ayubowan, kia ora,
I am Nimesha. I am a Trauma Therapist, Healing Arts Practitioner & Embodiment Expert/Coach. I am not mainstream... but for those who appreciate my approach: I do speaking engagements, mental health educational seminars and consulting for individuals and community based mental health projects (see Services). My interests lie in teaching emotional resilience, holistic trauma healing and creating educational mental health related content. My Honours’ thesis was published in the New Zealand Journal of Psychology, covering rates of mental health literacy among New Zealand adolescents.
Over the last few years, I’ve worked for a psychiatrist in private practice and have worked for the Department of Corrections on the community reintergration team. I, now, work as a Programme Facilitator for Corrections, running Rehabilitation programmes for people in prison and on sentence. Prior to that, I was studying and volunteering for a mental health crisis and suicide phone heIpline - the Samaritans - while doing support work for children with autism and other disabilities.
I also predominantly work with and for south Asians families and youth and spend time developing mental health interventions and consulting for a number of south Asian children, teens, adults and their families. I am also invested in making work spaces culturally safe for migrants and in particular, those of South Asian decent (cultural safety consultation & seminars - see services). Further, I’m also currently deepening my understanding of eastern holistic methods of healing trauma such as yoga, massage, and energy medicine.
I am now passionate about sharing a blended and integrated approach to healing & wellbeing. I am where East meets West, where science meets spirit.
Delighted to hear from you.
Metta,
Nimesha
